The San Joaquin River is over 365 miles long and starts in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. It flows through the valley and winds into San Francisco Bay. Although once a mighty and powerful river, it was damned off in Friant, Ca. and now mostly consists of miles of sandbars and wetlands. The bluffs neighborhoods are located in Madera (to the north) and Fresno (to the south). This area is home to some of the top country club golf courses in the valley as well as some of the best views and most elegant homes and estates in all of the Valley. The Bluffs include areas close to the Fig Garden Golf Course and San Joaquin Country Club. It is also located nearby Sierra Sky Park Airport on the west border.
